Alma 3

How can I relate this to Christ?
This is a very dark chapter. The first thing which I found that relates to Christ is the markings mentioned. Laman and Lemuel, due to their rebellion, marked themselves against The Lord; and the Amlicites marked themselves on their foreheads to mark themselves against the Nephites. On the other hand, we can mark ourselves for The Lord by choosing to follow Him despite our flaws and our weaknesses. The Lord Himself is marked on His hands, His wrists, His feet, and His side. He has engraved us on His palms and marked us as His, so long as we choose Him. Even if we choose and are marked against The Lord, He is always willing to remove our marks if we turn away from them and turn towards Him: "...repent of [your] wickedness and turn to me that I may have mercy upon [you]."

What does this warn us about?
The text warns us that it is us who mark ourselves by our desires, choices, and words. We affect what kind of person we become and the place where we'll be comfortable in. God is willing to forgive us and has given the gift of repentance and grace so that we can choose to change—but it must be our choice, for we are our own judges on what we want to do and what we want to desire. It also shows an example of the woes of contention, enmity, or hostility—which tears relationships and people apart.
